The BCMA is excited to announce that this April we will be hosting our second road-show in Compton, near Newbury. These road shows present an excellent networking opportunity as well as counting towards your annual CPD total!
This year we’re pleased to welcome as our speakers: Keith Harmon, Ursula Barbieri and Alison Young. The topics include: Energy Healing and Dowsing, Life Alignment Healing and The Sarling Technique.
Along with the speakers we will have tables promoting courses/selling CAM related products, (a few table spaces are available please contact the office if you would like a table), and the BCMA team will be on hand during the day to answer questions and offer advice
The venue is easily accessible and there is plenty of car parking behind the hall The cost for the day will be £35 for BCMA membersand £40 for non members which includes tea/coffee and biscuits but not lunch (bring a packed lunch and enjoy networking with other attendees)

SO … where should we go next?
Do you have a local hall that would be suitable for an event of this type?
Do you run a local networking group who would be interested in an event in your area?
Contact the office with your location and offers of help to make our second event as successful as our first!
It was great to see everyone at the AGM yesterday both new faces and our regular BCMA representatives for what was an interesting and productive meeting.

We are gearing up ready for our very first Road Show to celebrate our 25th Anniversary so unfortunately very little time for posting at the moment. We do have a few places available if you are interested please contact me to reserve your place. We very much hope the event will lead to more in the future and are currently looking for other venues in areas our members would like us to visit, do you have a venue suggestion? It needs to be a Hall preferably with a kitchen for tea/coffee making, with parking and somewhere to buy lunch close by, do let us know if you would be interested in helping with or attending an event in your area.
Welcome to the BCMA Blog. For our first posts I thought I would start to introduce some of the team here at the British Complementary Medicine Association. Today is my turn, I am the BCMA Administrator and have worked for the BCMA for over 10 years, before I was asked to design their ‘new’ website and do some admin duties I had only a very limited view about Complementary Therapies and what CAM was all about.
I had vaguely heard of Homeopathy and Acupuncture but what on earth are Reiki, Reflexology and NLP? I had of course some knowledge of massage but how did you know where to find a massage therapist and not get more than you bargained for (certain impressions gained from the media immediately sprang to mind). So as with all my past jobs I needed to know more if I was going to be a part of this organisation. This started with my self education on complementary therapies. Luckily I am competent with computers, search engines and have pretty good ‘people skills’ so I started research.
It soon became apparent there was a whole world of therapies out there, most of them directed at your body’s own ability to heal itself with gentle help, NONE of them are miracle cures and would never claim to be so. I learned early on that professional therapists with good reputations never claim to be able to do more than help your body use its natural abilities and relax you.
In the last ten years I have been privileged to meet many therapists and sample some of their therapies. I now have first hand experience of many of the therapies within the BCMA including Reiki, Reflexology and Energy Field Therapy and have a much better understanding of CAM, which helps me when I am responding to questions via phone and email from the public and therapists.
The BCMA has just announced the launch of the BCMA Guides, at our first ever Road Show on 18th May 2013, one of which I have helped to compile ‘The BCMA Guide to Finding a Therapist’ one of 4 guides being released as either an online download or in paper format for a very low fee.
‘BCMA Guide to setting up a Therapy Organisation’
‘BCMA Guide to setting up a Therapy School’
‘BCMA Guide to setting up a Therapy Clinic’
More information to follow during the launch.
Which title would you be interested in? Are there any titles you would like to see added?
On the 18th of May, The British Complementary Medicine Association will be taking over Sandhurst Community Hall Yorktown Road for their first ever roadshow part of their 25th anniversary celebrations. Marilyn Devonish will be telling us ‘How to Supercharge and Compliment Your Complementary Medicine’ whilst Jane Miller will discuss ‘Profits, Sales and Marketing; What you believe is what you get’ and John Levine explores ‘Using Alphamusic to induce an Alpha-State – The Power of Sound’.
